If you were born in the 80’s you grew up watching movies that lead you to believe that by the year 1997 the world would become nothing but a barren wasteland. As a child I was convinced at any moment a bomb would drop, or aliens would invade, or Arnold would travel through time and become Governor of California and we would be forced to roam the wastelands in search of other people to eat or evil overlord to over throw! Then 1997 came and went and nothing aside from post grunge music and Carson Daly hosting a TLR. So almost a post-apocalyptic wasteland. It would seem the filmmakers behind Turbo Kid grew up with the same fears and also an immense love for BMX bikes. All of which seems to have fueled one damn fun looking flick! Check out the trailer below and if you live in the Metro-Detroit Area (Like us!) check it out playing in Historic Howell Theater this Friday, August 28th! If not check out the link below for more cities and theaters and remember if it isn’t coming to a town near you, you can always check it out on VOD! Also the filmmakers are doing a live tweet with the movie at 9:00pm EST this Friday, so be sure to use the #TurboKidLive to get in on the fun!
