Sadly, whenever I hear “Kickstarter” or “Indiegogo” I get a glazed over look in my eyes and start to drool a bit. It seems every movie not directed by Peter Jackson or Michael Mann goes this route and it gets sorta tiresome. Not that I don’t support independent movies and I understand it’s a way for a lot of projects to get off the ground, especially off the wall, outta the box projects mainstream studios don’t want to roll the dice on. It’s just that SO many artist have a crowdfunding campaign and if we were to be fair this entire site would just Kickstarter campaigns and that’s no fun for anyone. With all that said the results of crowdfunding can be awesome and bring us totally cool projects. Case in point: Chad Ferrin’s The Chair. Now to be fair I have yet to see the finished result, but the teaser trailer below looks great and grabbed my attention. And incase you were worried you missed out on all that crowdfunding goodness, you are in luck! A post production campaign is being launched shortly to finish the film up! Check it out below and let us know what you think.
Synopsis: Based on the Alterna Comics graphic novel of the same name, THE CHAIR follows the story of Richard Sullivan, an innocent man struggling to escape execution on death row. Witnessing the savage killings of his fellow inmates at the hand of the prison’s sadistic and psychotic Warden, Sullivan decides that the only way to survive is to fight back. But as he matches the brutality occurring in the prison, Sullivan is forced to come face to face with his sanity and his own horrifying past.
