I have no idea how I’ve gone this far into 2014 without hearing about this movie. When I was 13 years old I had two obsessions 1) hooking up my VCR in a way that allowed me to watch scrabbled porn on deep cable (younger audience will have to google that) and 2) Finding insane Italian horror flicks that cared more about gore and SFX than silly things like plot and characters! Now I’m not saying that The Demon’s Rook is nothing but 90 minutes of bat shit crazy gore (god that would be awesome). I have not seen the film yet, but judging by the trailer 13-year-old me would be damn happy to know in 17 years later I am still watching these movies. Tribeca Film is releasing The Demon’s Rook on VOD Sept 30th. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think!
PLOT: Chaos descends upon a quiet town when Roscoe, the pupil of a wizard monk from an ancient race of demons, unknowingly opens a portal that allows an unspeakable evil to travel freely into our world. When three grisly beasts cross into our dimension, the living are possessed and the dead rise to destroy everything in their path. Armed with demons’ magic, Roscoe is the only fighting chance to put an end to their eternal path of destruction. An ode to the DIY creature-feature classics of the 1980’s, THE DEMON’S ROOK is a “gut-flinging monster mash” (Dread Central) that you won’t soon forget.
