I am huge fan of the genius known as Brian Wilson. Pet Sounds is still mind-blowing. A number of years ago I caught him concert at Pine Knob. Even though the years haven’t been kind to him, physically and mentally, it was still a thrill.
Speaking of Wilson, just finished the documentary ‘The Wreaking Crew’ about the studio players that played on many of the Beach Boys albums and other hit songs from that era. Fantastic doc, in fact chatting it up with the director next week—stay tuned for that enlightening interview coming up the Obi Wan’s Beard podcast.
Needless to say, I am down with this flick. Talented cast; Paul Dano, John Cusack, Elizabeth Banks, and Paul Giamatti–take my money. Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys as subject matter—take more of my money!

LOVE & MERCY presents an unconventional portrait of Brian Wilson, the mercurial singer, songwriter and leader of The Beach Boys. Set against the era defining catalog of Wilson’s music, the film intimately examines the personal voyage and ultimate salvation of the icon whose success came at extraordinary personal cost.
