Recently, Nicolas Cage talked with MTV’s Splash Page about his involvement with playing Superman on the big screen in Tim Burton’s Superman Lives. We’ve talked about this on the site on several occasions, even interviewing the director of the upcoming documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?, Jon Schnepp. But this is the first time in a long time that Cage has spoken about the film since it was canned.
Before saying that Superman is one of our countries most precious icons, Cage informed us that the direction that he and Burton were going in was something “really special,” and said “at least it’s out there in the ether that that could have happened, but we don’t have to make the movie. It’s still interesting to people.” When asked what he thought about the documentary, Cage replied with “It sounds fascinating… It’s a good idea.”
Sounds to me like Cage is glad that the movie didn’t work out. I’m sure we will find out more when the documentary comes out and Cage can actually tell us his feelings on the movie in a more in depth interview. Perhaps we can even see him throw on the cape and lick spaghetti sauce off some poor, unfortunate kids hands like in the script? Who knows! Sound off in the comments below and tell everyone your thoughts on Nic Cage as Superman, and what you would have liked to have seen in Superman Lives!
