With San Diego Comic-Con in full effect, now is the time for big, exciting announcements to be made. So far, it seems like one of the biggest announcements to be catching the attention of DC Comic fans took place at the Warner Bros. panel, when Harry Lennix (General Swanwick from Man of Steel) took stage and read the following quote from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns:
““I want you to remember Clark in all the years to come. In all your private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember, the one man who beat you.”
This got fans even more excited when director Zack Snyder, making a surprise appearance, revealed the logo for the next installment in his Man of Steel franchise which will see the World’s Finest in one movie. That’s right, folks- Batman will be featured in the next Man of Steel movie.
Not only will we see these two together in one live-action movie, but we will be seeing them exchange blows as well. Man of Steel screenwriter, David S. Goyer, mentioned the title will either be Batman vs. Superman or Superman vs. Batman, with heavy influence from Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. Which makes sense if you look at how fat the Batman logo is above.
Why will these two be fighting? Maybe we can take a look at the amount of destruction and carnage that happened at the end of Man of Steel, and assume that Batman goes to Metropolis to try to put down Superman before what happened to Metropolis happens to Gotham? All I know, is that I look forward to Batman plugging into either cities power grid to take on Superman. Bring it on, Snyder!
