I always wondered if Jason Bateman could do more than comedy. Don’t get me wrong the guy makes me laugh and he has playing the straight man down to a ‘T’, but I never pegged him for a serious actor, let alone in a genre film. Not that The Gift is straight genre, but judging by the trailer it definitely has strokes of genre. Writer/director Joel Edgerton (Yeah, the guy from Warrior and Zero Dark Thirty) is making this his first go at the director’s chair and I gotta say it looks like a wild time. I always dig these kind of mystery/suspense flicks and we all know Edgerton can deliver in front of the camera, but we will see how he does behind it this July. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments.
