Insidious Chapter 3 was a huge let down for me. Sure it had its creepy moments, but lacked the “umph” that made the first 2 classics. Maybe it was the lack of James Wan (he was off filming Vin Desel and The Rock punch cars that fly or something… never saw those flicks) or maybe it was series writer/star Leigh Whannell, who took over in the director chaired and also plays Specs. It was his first time directing, but Chapter 3 definitely was lacking. I didnt absolutely HATE the movie, just felt very standard and in a series that up until this point was anything but. Thankfully, Insidious Chapter 4: The Last Key seems to be heading back on track! New director Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan) appears to be bring Insidious right on track. Not 100% if this is another prequel or a straight sequel to Chapter 2, but it does feature Lynn Shaye’s character prominetly and we all know what happened to her at the end of Chapter 1. Either way I am on board! Check out the trailer below. Blumhouse will release Insidious Chapter 4: The Last Key theatrically in Janurary.
The creative minds behind the hit Insidious trilogy return for Insidious: The Last Key. In the supernatural thriller, which welcomes back franchise standout Lin Shaye as Dr. Elise Rainier, the brilliant parapsychologist faces her most fearsome and personal haunting yet: in her own family home.
The film is written by co-creator Leigh Whannell (Saw), who wrote the trilogy and directed Chapter 3; produced by Insidious regulars Jason Blum (The Purge series, Get Out), Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity) and co-creator James Wan (The Conjuring, Furious 7); and directed by series newcomer Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan).
Shaye is joined in the cast by Angus Sampson, Whannell, Josh Stewart, Caitlin Gerard, Kirk Acevedo, Javier Botet, Bruce Davison, Spencer Locke, Tessa Ferrer, Ava Kolker and Marcus Henderson.
Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Charles Layton, Bailey Conway Anglewicz, Couper Samuelson and Whannell serve as executive producers.
