Another week and another adventure in Duff’s Brown Paper Sack, before we drive into this week’s pull list, let’s recap last week’s voyage.
Ivar, Time Walker #3
The Fly: Outbreak #1
All solids issues, although, Ivar, is starting to loose me a bit. Also, my prediction that it would be optioned for a film was correct also, Universal snatched it. Series is smart, funny, and very promising.
Make sure to check it out.
Now this weeks picks:
Art and Cover by PAOLO RIVERA
Interlocking Variant Cover by JEFF LEMIRE & MATT KINDT
Variant Cover by FRANCESCO FRANCAVILLA
The darkness is now! The heroes of the Valiant Universe make their triumphant last stand at the end of all things as superstar creators Jeff Lemire, Matt Kindt, and Paolo Rivera bring their magnum opus to its gut-wrenching conclusion!
The Immortal Enemy has all but won and only Bloodshot and Geomancer are left to stand against his darkness. Are they willing to save humanity if it means losing their own – and each other?
Lemire, Kindt, and Rivera need to take a bow and receive a standing applause for their work throughout this limited series.
If you want to bring readers to you’re label, get them excited about you’re universe this is how you do. Valiant’s re-boot in a way not only introduces us to their core line up, but creates a storyline that shapes the their entire universe.
Quick recap: The Immortal Enemy can transform it’s self into any form to kill you, it’s sole purpose is to destroy that time periods Geomancer, the Enteral Warrior’s primary objective is project the Geomancer–he continually fails at doing this. A new Geomancer has been named (Kay), Bloodshot takes a liking to her. He’s also the last line of defense. In the future, a code breaker is working on a stone object that can save everyone…The Immortal Enemy is pretty much unstoppable.
I won’t say anymore, you have to read it…but the conclusion is devastating and sets up Bloodshot Reborn coming out in a few weeks.
Geoff is sick and tired of a certain Robot-Faced menace stalking his sister and threatening his father, so the two have an all-out brawl to settle the score. Meanwhile, Lucas reveals a terrible secret to his former partner, and an old enemy of the Allan family comes back from the dead!
Continues to be one of the best horror comics out there. Niles conjures a killer script, and Worm displays his dark magic on the page again. Each issue gets us just a step closer to learning who Geoff Allan really is and what’s he’s capable of. American Horror Story who? If you want memorable supernatural outcasts look no further.
ZOMBIES VS ROBOTS #3
Written by CHRIS RYALL, STEVE NILES
Art by ANTHONY DIECIDUE, VAL MAYERIK Cover by ASHLEY WOOD
“Inherit the Earth!,” part 3! Space-faring humans have returned to Earth to find it still dead but crawling with oddly sentient zombies, robots and… Mermen! Finally!
Another exciting entry into this Tech VS Dreck anthology. Ryall’s and Nile’s featured stories are solid, but I can’t get enough of Wood’s Tales from ZvR mini section. The art is amazing, but the story of little boy and his tiny robot—searching for his mom is not only enduring but charming too boot.
“Inherit the Earth”- things get crazy fun here: there’s merman, giant 20,000 Leagues Under the See Octopus, evil genius Lawn Mowner Man Roboot, and a creepy Claw hand controlling Earth’s destiny from the Moon. You know typical ZvR stuff!
“The Orphan”- The young girl and her Robot protector continue to bond over the killing of flesh eating monsters (how sweet)…but a new danger arises.
ZvR is paper adrenaline can’t get enough of it.
Well’s that’s all…make sure to check out the Obi Wan’s Beard Podcast–great new showing coming up! Happy to say there will be a Dr. Who segment this time.
Also next month we’ll be featuring a ton of new Trades from Titan…really cool, unique stuff!
