With heavy heart I write this review…
Not only is it the last issue of this mighty crossover event, but it is the last time we’re expected to see and hear from the boys in gray from IDW for the foreseeable future. On top of this downer, comes the casting news for Ghostbusters 3.
I’m no sexist, and I understand the need for ‘new blood’, but a complete reboot?! An all female cast it doesn’t make any sense to me. Can’t we have a mixture of male and female? African-American, white, Asian, Eskimo, Hispanic, Islander—doesn’t matter—but a group of diverse people, ya know.
Wouldn’t it be more shocking if Paul Feig did a film without Kristen Weig and Melissa McCarthy?
The Ghostbusters needed a transition film, not a new origin. I wish they would’ve reached out Erik, Dan, Louis, and Tom (The IDW Ghostbusters Creative team)–they produced a wonderful cocktail of new flavors alongside our favorites.
(also I know they did reach out, but didn’t get a response)
(Get it together man, review the comic!)
(Give me a minute)
Ok, back to the matter at hand…
What do you get when:
Chi-You, an ancient demon from the Turtles dimension, leads an army of slave zombies against the Ghostbusters and Turtles whilst they are working on a dimensional transporter inside Ghostbusters HQ?
The answer is:
A proton blast followed by a judo chop to the nucleus accumbens (that’s where pleasure is processed) in your brain!
This whole series has been nothing but a joy to read. Erik and Tom’s script is top notch as always. The jokes work, the style is swift and fits the characters well. Dan’s pencils and colors are lush.
The major highlight of this book is seeing Mikey in the overalls with a proton pack strapped to his shell. A geek dream is what you get!
Make sure to pick up this last issue, don’t know when we’ll see the ‘Busters back in action!
Below we have a mini-preview, also I was able to talk to Dan on my brand new podcast, ‘Obi Wan’s Beard’. We talk all kinds of nerd stuff, including what he’s up to next: listen here.
