Comic Book Review: Penny Dreadful

In Comic Books, Titan by Just Bob2 Comments

If you are a fan of the amazing series Penny Dreadful from the creator John Logan and showed on Showtime, you will absolutely love this new Comic based on the hit series.

Issue #1 by Krysty Wilson-Cairns (writer for Penny Dreadful Season 3) , Andrew Hinderaker and Chris King (The New Adventures of Superboy, Adventure Comics and Tales of The Teen Titans) is nothing short of fantastic.

I would say this is one of the most anticipated comics of the summer, 2016 and well worth the wait.  I hear of it’s conception a few months ago through Titan correspondence and could not wait until it showed it’s face this year.

I am a huge fan of the series and am now a huge fan of the Comic.

As with the series, the visuals and story line keep you on the edge of your seat as you are drawn in to this amazing world of the macabre. I have always been a classic horror film and classic creatures.  Ever since I watched the first episode of the hit series, I was hooked.  I have a new love for horror comics and am anticipating this to be a very good year for Titan and Penny Dreadful.

If you like the series, go out and treat yourself to this wonderful book. I promise you will be hooked on it as I am.  I know, I know. Great Just Bob, just give me  another vice why don’t you? Still, just go out to your local comic stop and pick up a copy of Penny Dreadful #1.

The artwork is as beautiful as it is dark. Illustrated by Louie De Martinis (Female Force, Grimm Fairy Tales and Tron: Ghost in The Machine) just stunning visuals. I really cannot say enough about this first of hopefully many more issues.  As an artist (In School), I am fascinated by this book. It reminds me why I love art and why I love to read book like this.

Penny Dreadful will hit the stores and Digital today, May 4th, so go out and get one for yourself.  I hope to get more to review and will keep you up to date as much as possible with the latest and greatest of PD.

Until next time,
