Oren Peli will debut, Area 51, his latest foray into the world of everything supernatural and creepy this May 15th. From the trailer it looks as though Mr. Peli has turned his gaze from earthbound creeps to those beyond the confines of our atmosphere. Thanks to the ‘found footage’ we are able to join in with a group of friends as they infiltrate the inner fortress of Area 51, as you may have guessed they find that the rumors surrounding the very secretive government facility are all horribly true.
I would probably be more intrigued to see this film if I hadn’t already watch a lesser known movie, The Banshee Chapter. Interestingly enough, Banshee Chapter was made and released in 2013, but Area 51 was filmed nearly 6 years ago and only now seeing the light of day. From what I can tell they seem quite similar, now don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to see it because for one, I do enjoy Oren Peli’s work and two, I am interested to see just how many similarities I’ll be able to find between the previously mentioned film and this one.
Area 51 is written and directed by Oren Peli and stars Suze Lanier-Bramlett, Sandra Staggs, Roy Abramsohn. Catch it May 15-17 at one of 16 limited releases through Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas or on VOD
