Alright, so after gathering some excitement for the upcoming years, I decided to compile a list of books I am most excited about this year, one is already out but…hey it’s still awesome. THESE ARE IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER!!

1. F.O.R.C.E

Writer: Shawn Pryor and B. Alex Thompson
Artist: Jay Reed
Publisher: Action Lab

Synopsis:  Terrance Wright, the starting quarterback for the Tennessee Boxers, is at the tail end of his career. Hoping for one last big payday, he’s doing all he can to lead his team to victory at Supreme Bowl XXVII. But events leading up to the big game could possibly alter Terrance’s future in professional football. Will dealing with shaky finances and physical health, his scheming and calculating agent, a rookie quarterback that’s on his heels, and a personal relationship with the team’s operations manager take him to his breaking point, regardless of the outcome on the gridiron?

Why I’m excited?: If you’re a sports fan then this book is right up your alley, but Shawn Pryor makes this book for everyone, even someone like me who knows nothing about Football. This sports drama will get you excited and your heart pounding (yes..I’ve read the series and interviewed the writer.)

2. The Exiles

Writer: Saladin Ahmed
Artist: Javier Rodriguez
Publisher: Marvel

Synopsis: the man once known as Nick Fury—now called the Unseen—enlists a new super group to protect the universe from an all-encompassing threat. Summoning Blink, Iron Lad, Wolvie, and Khan to face down the oncoming storm, the Unseen drafts one final member…Valkyrie!

Why I’m excited: I want to know why Wolvie is on this team…that’s it.

3. Ice Cream Man

Writer: W. Maxwell Prince
Artist: Martin Morazzo
Publisher: Image Comics

Synopsis: A genre-defying comic book series featuring disparate “one-shot” tales of sorrow, wonder, and redemption. Each installment features its own cast of strange characters, dealing with their own special sundae of suffering. And on the periphery of all of them, like the twinkly music of his colorful truck, is the Ice Cream Man—a weaver of stories, a purveyor of sweet treats. Friend. Foe. God. Demon. The man who, with a snap of his fingers—lickety split!—can change the course of your life forever.

Why I’m excited: Think if IT was an Ice Cream Man. This series is all one shots, meaning you can jump in at any point in time and be still know what is going on! Plus, a horror anthology? We haven’t seen one of those in forever!

4. Come Into Me

Writer: Zac Thompson and Lonnie Nadler
Artist: Piotr Kowalski
Publisher: Black Mask

Synopsis: When an entrepreneur with a god complex creates a technology that allows two minds to share one body, he doesn’t anticipate the degenerative effects of long-term trials. Come Into Me is a contemporary comment on connected culture and our longing for approval in the digital age. This is a world where technology and flesh become indistinguishable, begging the question, “How much sharing is too much sharing?”

Why I’m excited: It’s body horror and weird sci-fi goodness, Come Into Me looks to be a weird and twisted ride for anyone interested in uncomfortable horror.

 5. Tap Dance Killer

Writer: Ted Sikora
Artist: Nikolaus Harrison
Publisher: Hero Tomorrow

Synopsis: Actress Nikki St Clair was the sweetest gal in the city until she was cast in a horror show musical as the Tap Dance Killer. Now, unable to shake the role, this 1920s-esque bizarre mobster assassin is out on the streets dealing damage with a theatrical flair that leaves ’em, quite literally, slain in the isles! This first issue also features the first appearance of a knockout new villain!

Why I’m Excited: It’s no secret that I love Apama and Tap Dance Killer is exactly the perfect spin off for an already solid series. If you have not read Apama, then I recommend checking out this new title. It’s fucking on point!
